Pure Select Meats is a small, family run business, and was founded by Sarah and Benjamin Contreras. Their mission is to help share everything a good steak brings to peoples’ lives. Whether you are planning a romantic meal for two or entertaining a group of friends around the barbecue, a good steak can help enhance the experience and create lasting memories through taste and sensations.
Sarah was born and raised on a cattle farm in Cheshire and often accompanied her father around the cattle sheds. Being a farmer’s daughter, she has eaten her fair share of beef from all over the world, however when Ben introduced her to Galician beef, she was completely blown away by the flavour and tenderness of what was in front of her.
Benjamin has more than 10 years of experience in the food and hospitality industry, having worked in, and managed some of the best restaurants in Harrogate and Ilkley, in Yorkshire. This 10 year experience however was split in two, when he decided to go back to his Latin American roots and moved to Mendoza, Argentina, to work as a Gaucho, breeding and raising the famous Argentinian cattle and of course, sampling many examples of Mendoza’s other well-known export; Malbec. Taking this experience and knowledge of food and wine, and different cooking techniques Benjamin started searching for a steak with “Wow factor”, and found it when a Basque colleague introduced him to Galician Beef, and the rest, as they say, is history.
